Hey guys,
Just watched the documentary and just wanna say i digg what you guys did and are doing. Anvil isnt really making my type of music, but the heart and soul you guys put in your music and the dedication the band has is at least admirable. I've did my fair share of band projects and gave up a long time ago.
Nothing more really, i wish you guys the best and just wanted you guys to know how much i am inspired by the documentary.

I feel the same way. I gave up on my rock and roll dreams a long time ago, and really admire these guys for sticking it out for so long. I am really glad to see them getting their day in the spotlight. I bought tickets to see them in Atlanta, and I can't wait. Rock on Anvil!!

Dudes... I'm a 44 year old software engineer for a large computer company, basically a mild-mannered dad.
You got to me dudes, I'm buying the CD and I'm waiting to watch you blow up. If you got your message to me, you are getting it out there, believe me. You are going to make it.
Good job sticking to it all these years, and your nuts rocks.

I hope you guys get the credit you deserve, very inspirational.
Even without the appropriate credit you guys have shown what it's all meant to be about anyway, you're doing what you want to do and not selling out to an easier path. You stand taller then most bands that have come and gone and I think your testament will carry on for many years to come.
Tons of respect.

Guys, I just watched your documentary on VH1 Classic and I gotta say, as a musician and long-time struggling one at that, your story has truly inspired me and given me that spark that says, "f**king right! I still have a chance!" It's really easy to feel like you won't be able to make it when you go and have a family and do the "adult" things in life, but you've shown me that I just gotta keep at it... and maybe get the hook up with a bad ass producer too Best of luck... I'm going out and picking up your CD tomorrow. Maybe my band could open for you if you ever play in or around Pittsburgh, PA. Keep on Rockin! Doug exposingtyranny@gmail.com

Was listening to the #1 local Sports Talk radio here in Dallas (1310 the ticket) and heard about the video. It was enough to make me watch it today. I've been in a band in my youger days as well and trying to reform one now at age 47. so the whole idea sorta fit for me. I really didn't know you had to have such big balls to go do a European Tour but wow, that is someting to remember huh. Video was very entertaining and just wanted to wish you guys well and hope this fifteen minutes of fame lasts 15 years for you guys seems you've paid your dues and time for some payoff. Leep it up guys and "Stay Hard"....

Wow man, this really reached out to me, i'm still young and have lots of time to make my path in life, but i've always wanted my path to be one of music, everyone in life is always telling me "you've got to come to a realization that being a rock-star is a dream, it wont happen, get a real job". But after watching your documentary, I have been inspired and want to pursue my dreams as a rock/metal musician. For you guys to stick it through and finally make it is just, INCREDIBLE! It's made me realize that if you want something in life, grab the bull by the horns and ride it out! If you want it bad enough, you'll make it. Come to think of it, it's 3:16 am, and i have a college exam at 8, but i stayed up and watched the documentary because i'm just so impressed that you guys could stay so vigilant in your pursuit to get recognition, i think if i hadn't seen this movie, i wouldn't have even thought of trying to get a band together like i used to want to. So here's to Anvil, Cheers and keep on rockin'!

Just watched the doc. Anvil will be getting my money soon.
I gave up on my rock n roll dreams years ago. I am so glad that there are guys like Robb and Lips out there who are doing it for the love and the dream.
And as a Canadian metal fan, I am ashamed I had never heard Anvil before. What a great f**king band.

My daughter and I watched the documentary last night and we were blown away. It's a crying shame how f**ked up the music business is! You guys are such an inspiration for people everywhere who've been kicked in the teeth one too many times. When you roll into Detroit, we'll be there!

I rented the documentary for the first time and loved it but I do have a few questions & comments.
1. If Metallica & Anthrax think so highly of Anvil, WHY didn't either of them bring Anvil along as an opening act in the last 10 years??? There would've been ZERO harm to the headlining band and they wouldn't have been giving Anvil a handout, just a chance to earn decent $$$ playing in front of thousands!
2. When they shopped their CD in the States they went right for the BIG labels that have no interest in classic Metal. Why didn't they shop it rock/metal focused labels like Metal Blade, Spitfire etc.?
Maybe Anvil should've been more creative and started making phone calls to find out what popular bands thought of them and made a marketing pitch to be part of Ozzfest, play with Metallica etc. The ball was definitely dropped there.
Also, I don't understand how a band with 12 albums under their belt (before the 13th one) didn't make more money just from selling 12 different CDs from a website, stores etc. It wouldn't be hard to plug your CDs & tour dates via all the Heavy Metal websites, Forums etc., magazines, Craig's List. I guess they just need the right manager. You would THINK in Canada alone as more kids get old enough to like Heavy Metal they would seek out the classic Anvil stuff right? I can't imagine Canadian music stores wouldn't carry it?
Please pipe in everybody (and maybe the band) on your opinions! I know if I was filthy rich in a longtime "classic" band I would look for bands I liked but weren't getting a break to open for me ( like King's X ). Also, I would help that band with $10-20k to produce their CD if they asked. What is $20k for Metallica??? Sheesh!
Oh well, thanks to the Documentary they seem to be doing well. I imagine Lips is too busy to deliver meals, hopefully for good.

Noah, the stores in Canada are only now starting to carry a few of Anvil's cd's/dvd since the movie has been out. For some dam reason Canada's metal fans are a small group, these people don't know good music when they hear it. Anvil's music is not played on the radio for the same reason, not enough metal heads over here.
And, yes,Lips ain't gonna be delivering food now, unless of course he misses the kids, hehehe
I actually worked with Lips at the catering company. When I first met Lips I didn't realize he was the same guy who did Metal on Metal until I went to see them practice, then I was blown away and I always wondered how the heck can a band that's as good as these guys not be known.
Lips,Robb and Glen are not only great musicians, they are also great guys to sit and chat with, very down to earth.

I am a metal fan and just saw the movie. I am now a fan of this band's dedication and hope to be soon a fan of their music. Most of the bands I love are probably influenced by this band.
I'm also an e-business consultant and I can't stop thinking - someone needs to help Anvil sort out the distribution. E.g. I can't seem to find where I can buy their albums. This is the internet age. Can they not sell albums like iTunes directly from their website? A site like that is not difficult to set up. Don't let some slimey worm tell you it is going to cost you $50,000. Get a fan to help you for free.
To Anvil, you guys are legends, do yourselves a favour and find an honest person to help you out with getting ALL your albums out to the people. I am sure, particularly after this movie, people are willing to pay $1 a song or whatever. The Japanese market alone could give you a comfortable living. No record labels so you get all the proceeds. I hope you own rights to all the original classics - Metal on Metal etc, because you should re-release it all, possibly remaster it or even re-record it for today's market.
The Canadian EMI bloke on the movie, who listened to about 15 seconds of your song and turned it off, has a point however. The world has moved and tastes have changed. Of course I love your sound, I grew up in that generation, but the modern generation may not appreciate it. I am not saying sell out, but I am saying get a great producer to do your next album and give you ideas about making changes and evolving. Whoever produced Exodus "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" - is it Andy Sneap? is the kind of guy who might help reinvent your sound.
email me on mattvietnam@gmail.com to help me find a way to buy those albums "directly" from the source - ie Anvil.
