Anvil is one of the coolest bands I've ever seen - and the guys certainly have achieved their dreams. After banging thirty years their head on the wall, the wall finally gave in.
I loved the movie. It was a testimony of perseverance, hard work and belief on one's dreams. When I saw the movie, my sympathy was all the time on Lips and Rob and their friends, and I silently prayed: "Oh please dear Lord, please give them one good gig - if not anything else, just one good gig!" And it all came true in Japan!
Anvil has now after thirty years of insanely hard work finally broken through and gotten the recognition which it really deserves. The guys are now at their fifties; they certainly are adults with the maturity of adults.
But what if they had broken through in their twenties? Would there still be Anvil - or would it have broken up on internal disputes, like so many other bands have? Would they have had the same maturity, the same wisdom and the same life experience as they now have to handle the fame and its curses? How about their families and children?
Anvil remains as a monument for perseverance and belief in your dreams: when you are hard-headed enough and have faith on your dreams and try hard enough, the dreams will eventually come true. It is just the laws of probability which work on you.
Big hugs to everyone from Helsinki, Finland. I just returned from Anvil and Saxon gig at Nosturi venue, and that gig was ferrochromium steel, so to say!
